Rails, gravel and potholes
Cross railway and tram rails as close to a right angle as possible, with the bike upright and without braking or accelerating on them. On gravel, keep a steady speed and a loose grip, and avoid sudden braking or jerks on the bars. Over potholes and edges you can stand slightly on the footrests and let your legs take the bump.
Example
Tram rails cross the road at an angle ahead of you.
Move across your lane in good time so you can cross them as squarely as possible, with the bike upright.
Rails are extra slippery when wet. Avoid braking or turning on them.
