Look far ahead

The motorcycle goes where you look. With your eyes far ahead and through the bend, you spot hazards earlier and have more time to plan. If you look at the ground just in front of the wheel, everything comes as a surprise. The calculation shows how far you travel in a few seconds, and why you must look further ahead the faster you ride.

Example

You are riding at 80 km/h (v≈22v \approx 22 m/s).

In 4 seconds you travel s=22⋅4=88s = 22 \cdot 4 = 88 m. What you see 88 m ahead is where you will be in four seconds.

In a U-turn and at low speed, turn your head and look where you are going, not down at the ground.
