House of Quality (QFD)

The House of Quality is the main tool in Quality Function Deployment (QFD), showing the relationship between customer needs and technical characteristics in a matrix. The "roof" above the matrix shows how the technical characteristics affect each other, revealing trade-offs early.

Example

The customer need "quiet in use" is linked to the technical characteristic "noise level in dB", and the relationship is weighted in the matrix.
