The power rule for class A2

A class A2 motorcycle may have at most 35 kW and at most 0.2 kW per kilo. It may be restricted from a more powerful bike, but not from more than twice the power, so at most 70 kW originally. Power and weight are in the registration certificate, so you can check whether a bike fits A2.

P≤35 kWP \le 35\ \text{kW}maximum power
Pm≤0.2 kW/kg\dfrac{P}{m} \le 0.2\ \text{kW/kg}power per kilo

Example

A bike has 35 kW and weighs 190 kg.

35190≈0.18\dfrac{35}{190} \approx 0.18 kW/kg, which is below 0.2. It can be ridden with A2.

If you buy a restricted bike, check that the restriction is documented and in the registration certificate.
